Description

Living room opens onto ocean-front balcony. Fully-furnished kitchen and spacious counters and table allows meals to be cooked for a crowd. Gas fireplace makes star-gazing cozy and romantic. Both bedrooms are large and on the street side, with no view of the ocean, but lots of closet space. We have the Couch to sleep on (NOT a sofa bed!) and/or two camping cots, plus clean floor space works great for kids' sleeping bags!  The carpet is brand new, so if you bring backpacking-type air mattresses, the floor is very comfortable and spacious!

Basic spices: salt/pepper, oil and oil spray, garlic salt, lemon pepper, Italian seasoning, and onion powder. Kitchen also includes Blender, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, pizza pan, pizza cutter, cutlery, some Tupperware.  Pots/pans and fry pans and dishes, glasses, mugs, wine glasses, baking dishes and mixing bowls also provided.

No smoking in the condo or balcony.

No pets.

ONE off-street parking spot provided for this condo; other vehicles in party, please find parking on adjacent side-streets.

Telescope in the front room for star gazing or whale watching; instructional DVD for the scope is in the desk. BRING YOUR OWN BINOCULARS! They work great for watching whales and ships, and whatever else catches your eye! (people, birds, vehicles stuck on the beach, etc :)

The Wheelhouse is ideally located between the Pacific Ocean and Lincoln City. Drive down the ramp to spin a few doughnuts in the beach sand or beach comb for miles in either direction! Walk 1/4 mile to town to enjoy pizza, ice cream cones, Pier 101 seafood, Thai, Chinese or Mexican food and stroll through souvenir and thrift shops.

Our charge for extra guests (more than your reservation is booked for) is only $5/person/night, but if undeclared guests show up, the charge is $10/person/night.

Two night minimum stay required.

AREA DESCRIPTION

This condo is in the upscale Oceanlake Historic District, conveniently located close to a ramp to actually drive onto the beach sand!  Beach access is via 50 gentle stairs (with one handrail) or a paved ramp to drive down! In fact, during April - Sept, many people like to park their cars on the beach (right below the condo) when the tide is out! But twice a day, the tide rolls in, and clears everybody out!!!

For the shoppers in your group, Tanger Mall on Highway 101 in Lincoln city has name-brand outlet shopping for those who wish to cruise the shops, as well as many antique stores and curio shops.

The Chinook Winds Casino and Convention Center is just 2 miles north, with an indoor golf resort, seafood dining, concerts and entertainment, and 23 table games.

Chinook Winds Casino operates a shuttle bus, which comes right past our condo. You may call the driver at (541) 921-5100 to schedule pickup. The shuttle leaves the casino every hour, on the hour. and traverses Lincoln City down to the south end of town to Mo's Restaurant at 51st St, then returns on NW Harbor Ave (our street). Operates on weekends only: FRI and SAT...4 pm - 2 am, SUN...4 pm - midnight.

The local Chamber of Commerce sponsors a fun program called 'Finders Keepers' and annually hides 3000 hand blown glass sand dollars and Japanese sea floats along the 7 1/2 miles of Lincoln City beach! Be sure to walk the beach in front of your condo and look along the cliffs and among the grass and driftwood for these valuable collector items!

Devils Lake, deep only in terms of historic folklore, is 1/3 mile wide, 3 miles long, and reaches a depth of only 22 feet. Nine species of freshwater fish beckon the fisherman, while water sports such as windsurfing, water skiing, knee-boarding and jet skiing engage other sports enthusiasts. Flowing from Devils Lake is the 'D' River, which holds the title of one of the World's Shortest Rivers. From its source at Devils Lake, the river reaches its destination of the Pacific is a mere 120 feet.

Just 30 miles south is the town of Newport on Yaquina Bay, with it's working fleet of fishing vessels, plus sea lions basking on the docks and dozens of quaint bayfront shops and curio stores and restaurants.

World-famous Oregon Coast Aquarium is also located in Newport, as well as the Maritime Museum and the Hatfield Marine Science Center. Your days will be delightful, whether beach combing for glass floats or shopping or dining or reading in front of the fireplace!

Ms.

Dear Theresa, Thank you so much for suggesting the Wheelhouse condo for our vacation spot for Memorial weekend! We just loved it! My son, his wife and my 14 year old granddaughter thought this was an incredible place for our vacation. The view was perfect and the deck great. I loved the kitchen and everything was well appointed and very clean. My very most favorite part was sitting in the family room with the view.... we did have great weather but this would also be perfect when the weather was stormy with the fireplace on. I had no trouble getting up and down the stairs to the beech with my cane. Best trip to the coast....hope to come back in December or January. thanks again Katie H.

Only 2 beds no sofa bed Great view

Dear JJ, Thank you for your comments. The Wheelhouse is advertised as having only two beds in two bedrooms. We do have a sofa, but it is not a sofa bed, as you say. Sincerely, Teresa, owner

Lovely Spacious Condo

This condo is my favorite out of all the ones I've stayed in. It has an open floor plan for the living room and kitchen and lots of space to feel at home in! The bedrooms have good curtains to block out light when sleeping, the kitchen has all the appliances needed, and the views are sweeping and gorgeous! I would wholeheartedly recommend this condo for a group who wants to enjoy the view, nice amenities, and a cozy stay.

VRBO: Week at the Beach

This is our second stay at this unit this year. Would I stay here again, in a word, "YES". The view is amazing, the manager Mike is very friendly and very helpful. The owners are very nice and very accomodating. The unit has plenty of room and is very clean. We had a very relaxing time. I rated 4 stars but I would have rated it 4&1/2 stars if the system would have allowed me to. The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because the room is a little dated but that in no way did that take away from our stay. LIke I said, we will stay there again.
